In science we are learning about rocks!  What they look like, what they are made off, and what they feel like.  We examined rocks like marble, gneiss, limestone, sandstone, and more.  We were examining them for a while and then we started making projects on them.  We either used pixie or 30 hands.  They are both slides how apps.  We took all the rocks made diagrams, took pictures, said what they were made, if they were Foliated or Non Foliated, and more.   We also learned what sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks were, and also included that.

These are some of the characteristics that we used to describe the rocks:
Foliated – striped
Non Foliated – no stripes
Mafic- dark in color
Felsic- light in color
Intrusive – formed inside the Earth
Extrusive – formed on the surface of the Earth

When we are done with made rocks out of crayons.  We cut the rocks in to little pieces in foil, we pressed them together, and then melted them.  We did an other experiment where we had 3 Larry taffies pressed them to tether and then melted it.  This shows how to make a sedimentary rock (formed), metamorphic (melting), and then cooling (igneous).
